Spina Bifida support care manager Edel Browne Curran will undertake a new persona on Friday, April 4 at The Westgrove Hotel, Clane where she will don the white flares and perform Joe Dolan’s “You’re such a good lookin’ woman”.
In a star-studded line up, 14 acts will take to the stage in a “Stars in your Eyes” extravaganza with Matt Browne as MC. A fun spectacle it will be, but this fundraiser is hosted for a Kildare based charity that is dear to the hearts of the Browne family, with all proceeds in aid of the Little Way Cancer Centre, Clane.
“My sister in law, Maria Costello was diagnosed last October with breast cancer,” said Edel. “Aged 36, Maria underwent 16 weeks of chemotherapy with a mastectomy scheduled soon and reconstruction due from late March. Maria will then require six further weeks of radiotherapy and hormone treatment for five years.
“During this difficult time, Maria has attended the Little Way Cancer Centre for support and extended members of the family also found the services and warmth of the support workers there so helpful”.
As the centre receives no state funding to provide such vital services to Maria and women facing similar procedures, Edel and the family felt they could be pro-active and fundraise vie a “Stars in Their Eyes” show in aid of Little Way.
“It will be a fun night with personae such as Dean Martin, Freddie Mercury, Elvis and Celine Dion amongst the featured acts. The Browne family have been involved in the music industry for years so we are fulfilling all tasks in hosting the show and there are no costs involved. All funds raised therefore go directly to The Little Way Cancer Centre. Volunteer performers are raising money via sponsorship cards; you can donate by visiting iDonate and go to The Little Way charity site”.
Joining Edel will be dad Matt Browne as MC and 14 acts who will impersonate their favourite celebrity
Tickets €10; available from Marrons and Hughes Pharmacies and The Little Way Cancer Centre, Clane or contact Edel at 087 675 3812. All support is welcome.
