The Naas-based male voice choir Baldonnel Singers is recruiting for new members.

An open audition night is to be held in the Parish Community Centre, Sallins Road, Naas on Monday evening 02 September 2 with registration at 8.00 pm.

As the only all-male choir in the general Naas area Baldonnel Singers enjoy great popularity locally and have performed at many events in the area in recent years. These have included three gala concerts organised by Naas Lions Club along with star soprano Celine Byrne and tenor Paul Linehan. Baldonnel Singers have also performed alongside the Army No. 1 Band and the Artane Senior Band and during the early part of this year the choir performed at three of Ireland’s EU Presidency events in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.

Choir chairman Kieran McDaid said; “We are inviting interest from any men who feel they would like to get involved with choral singing for the first time or who have sung before in musical groups of any kind. There are many benefits and great enjoyment to be had in choral singing, it is a fantastic hobby or pastime and as a group we have great fun preparing for and performing at concerts and other events.”

Previous choir experience while desirable is not essential. Mr. McDaid added; “At the audition we will establish what singing voice range the men might have and if vacancies exist in that particular section of the choir we will invite them to attend at rehearsals to give it a try.”
