KILDARE Archaeological Society launched two important resources last week at a ceremony officiated by Mayor of Kildare Colm Purcell.
The County Kildare Archaeological Society Journal Vols. I-XIX (1891-2007) on DVD and the Directory of Archaeological Sources Relating to County Kildare were formally unveiled last week to an enthusiastic audience.

The new and unique archaeological
resources for the county were launched in the Council Chamber in Áras Chill Dara, Naas. Copies of both resources are to be made available to the libraries and schools within Kildare.

The Kildare Archaeology Society has, since 1891, produced a yearly journal with articles relating to the history of County Kildare and surrounding areas. They have compiled these journals and brought them into the 21st century by issuing them on DVD.

Users can search a complete archive in the click of a mouse and makes this primary resource more accessible.

The Directory of Archaeological Sources Relating to County Kildare, compiled by Jason Bolton, gives a comprehensive and up-to-date list of all archaeological resources relating to Kildare.

The illustrations are a noteworthy feature of the tome. The DVD is available through the society at www.kildarearchsoc.ie
