A GARDA investigation has been launched following the death of a man after he was believed to have been electrocuted at an ESB substation in Naas in the early hours of Tuesday (February 2).
The accident happened at a 10KV substation at the site of the old Donnelly Mirrors site at The Maudlins in the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday).

The man, who was not an ESB employee, was 34-years-old and from the Sallins area. It is believed he was originally from Eastern Europe.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and subsequently taken to Naas Hospital. The coroner was notified and it is expected a post mortem is to take place soon.

The death is not thought to be suspicious and is being treated as a sudden death pending a gardai investigation.

A spokesperson for the ESB called the tragic incident "regrettable" and said it is working with the gardai to ascertain what happened.
