Newbridge RFC players and volunteers got stuck into a club clean-up last Saturday morning to celebrate winning a major prize from Ulster Bank.
The club was recently named the Leinster winner of the bank’s RugbyForce prize package worth €5,000.
The Rosetown-based players will use the prize to refurbish their changing rooms, replace essential training equipment medical kits, and resurface the car park.
To kick off the spring-cleaning effort, almost 40 players, kids, parents and committee members got stuck into a painting and refurbishment effort last Saturday morning.
Niall Browne, President at Newbridge RFC, said: “We were delighted to have been named winner of the Ulster Bank RugbyForce support package. Over the past number of years, raising funds to maintain the club’s facilities has proved quite difficult. With the Ulster Bank RugbyForce support package, along with the assistance of kind volunteers and members, we have begun essential club renovations – turning it into a club the community can be proud of. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ulster Bank and all the volunteers for their generous and much needed support.”
Ladies team captain Aisling Mahon, who was one of the driving forces behind the clean-up, said: “It was great to see all the team-work out here today, and hopefully it will be carried on to the pitch next year.”
