Fight night in Kildare town this Friday
The ultimate battle of gaelic football and rugby will take place in Kildare Town this Friday night, 27 July.
But it will not be on the grass playing fields that both sides are used to. Instead, men and women from Round Towers GFC and Cill Dara RFC will slug it out in the boxing ring.
Tigerlily Nightclub will host the evening of white collar boxing, which will raise money for the two clubs involved.
Speaking to the Leinster Leader, Wayne Hunt of Cill Dara RFC said: “We did one last year with Newbridge and Naas rugby clubs but this year we decided to keep it in Kildare Town.”
The event, titled ‘2 Codes Go 2 War!’ is being held in conjunction with St Brigid’s Boxing Club. Tickets costing €15 are still available from Silken Thomas. Doors open at 7.30pm and the first fight is due to start at 8.00pm. The event is strictly over-18s only.
