Bride and groom cast their vote in Leixlip
Elayne Condon and Cliff Harding, from Glen Easton, Leixlip, who voted on Green Lane just after their wedding mass in the Church of Our Lady's Nativity.
ONLY half the country managed to make it to polling stations for the 31 May vote on the Fiscal Treaty but a Kildare based couple temporarily left their wedding day guests and celebrations to cast their vote.
Sutton native, Elayne Condon, and Leixlip native, Cliff Harding, got married in the Church of Our Lady’s Nativity, Leixlip, in a ceremony which started at 1 pm.
Despite the wet conditions the couple, both members of the Garda Siochana, left the church to cast their vote at Green Lane before moving to Tulfarris House in Blessington for a celebration attended by around 200 guests.
The couple, who live in Glen Easton, Leixlip, have been together nine and a half years and plan a honeymoon in Italy before returning to Garda duty at Store Street (Elayne) and Mullingar (Cliff).
Elayne’s friend, Sinead McDonnell, could not tell the Leader what way the couple voted, but they had a great day.
