Cars over 100 years old will take part in a unique vintage car run on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May from Barberstown Castle. The Pioneer Run celebrates the drive and passion of the earliest motorists. Members of the public will have an exceptional opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the oldest and rarest vehicles still running in Europe, when the vehicles visit the Spirit of Dunboyne festival on Saturday.

Well-known local pharmacist Frank O’Reilly is pictured at home celebrating his 87th birthday with grandson Finn. Frank came to Kildare from his home in Cornafean Co Cavan in 1943. His move to Kilcullen prompted by his older brother, footballing legend and Army Commandant John Joe O’Reilly, “the Gallant John Joe’.
