Exciting rock band set to entertain in Newbridge

TIPPED as the UK’s ‘hottest roots collective’ Southern Tenant Folk Union will play the Riverbank Arts Centre on Saturday, May 12 at 8pm. The Scottish bands fourth album ‘Pencaitland’ was released in Ireland in November.

Main beneficiary from the proceeds of the concert will be The Moat Theatre, Naas.

A real musical treat is in store for Kildare concert-goers following the announcement of details of the 2012 Naas Lions Club Gala Summer Concert. Billed as a program of opera, musical and choral favourites the gala night will be led by the Army No. 1 Band and will feature three of the most popular local performers, including world class soprano Celine Byrne.

French penpals pay visit to Ballysax NS pupils

The pupils of fourth class at Ballysax National School got a taste of ‘La Vie Francaise’ recently when they were paid a visit by their penpals from the St Bernard School in Cambrai in the North of France.

the award winning Droichead Nua Players can now add another few strings to their bow. They scooped awards for Best Actor, Best Lighting and third place over all for their production of The Good Father, which was directed by John Bowdren, at the All Ireland awards night held in Cavan on Saturday last.

This week I’d like you to meet an adorable and cuddly Husky German Shepherd cross dog. She is eighteen months old and found herself coming into rescue when her owners had to emigrate suddenly. When her owners left she was kindly taken in by a lady who looked after her till we had a free kennel space.
