Standing tall among the giants at Electric Picnic, is the Salty Dog experience which once more promises festival a hip mix of blue grass, blues solos, with a few rock stars thrown in.

The Electric Picnic music and arts festival, on from August 31 to September 2 in Stradbally, has announced the Salty Dog line up which includes the colossal rabble of folksters from Bellowhead to the sublime chaos of Ham Sandwich, and the purveyors of fun Tieranniesaur.

Bluegrass legends Two Time Polka travel north from Cork - as do the ubiquitous banner-boys Fred - and over from Blighty the renegade Morton Valance, the infectious swagger of Lois and the Love, and those croaking Cornwallians Black Friday, plus jaw-dropping percussionist Simon Spoons. Country legends TheNiall Toner Band, hot newcomers Shannon and the Shortcuts, soul chick Bronagh Gallagher, hairy Aussie-based duo Hat Fitz and Cara, and yankee eccentric Pete Pamf Sextette (complete with a top secret line up of big names), knicker-obessives Pervish, and The Salty Dog’s three perpetual servants of rum-fun –Jerry Fish, The Cujo Family and The Mighty Stef will all tip-toe gently across the pristine deck of this deluded sea vessel.

Meanwhile Trenchtown, the original reggae village, comes home to the Picnic to celebrate 50 years of Jamaica’s independence 2012 is set to be the biggest Trenchtown Party yet. Trenchtown has steadily grown into ‘One of the Highlights of the festival’, entertaining revellers with Live Reggae, Roots, Ska, Dub & Dancehall. The stage has been set on fire by the hottest acts on the scene ‘who come fi run de dance.’

By day, Trenchtown offers somewhere to explore. Along with its sounds, refreshing Blue Mountain coffee and traditional Island Arts and Crafts, festival goers can kick back on our sandy beach while ‘Mr Whippy’ sound system brings the tropical to this three day party. By night the jungle comes alive, TrenchTown hosts a party like no other, where festival goers can dance until ‘de sun rise!’.
