Michael Gormley and Fi Latham will be competing for the top prize in Scoil an Linbh Iosa's Strictly Come Dancing competition.

The fundraising extravaganza being run by Scoil an Linbh Iosa, the national school in Prosperous, was launched last Friday evening, January 25 with the eagerly anticipated announcement of the pairings.

The event will take place in Johnstown House Hotel  in Enfield on Saturday, March 2 at 8pm.

Angus McNally will MC the night while 2FM’s Rick O’Shea, Gavin Duffy from the Dragon’s Den and Sibéal Davitt, a professional dancer and television producer will be the celebrity judges.

Good-natured speculation and anticipation had reached fever pitch in the school community in advance of the announcement and the school’s principal Mary Kavanagh rarely had such rapt attention for any announcement as she called out the names!

The pairings are as follows: Muireann Kavanagh and Liam Scanlon, Fi Latham and Michael Gormley, Rosemary Coyle and Dave Merrins, Mairead Harmon and Michael Higgins, Cathy Casey and Dermot Lavin, Suzanne Watson and Darren O’Shea, Liz O’Driscoll and Dave O’Sullivan, Louise Carroll and Billy Carey, Lisa Corrigan and Kevin Scully, Pamela Kiely and James Cash, Debbie Mason and Richie Whelan Jnr, Paula Boyle and Robbie Buttler, Michele Davitt and James Byrne, Elaine Kavanagh and Keith Browne, Laura Nea and Paul Worsky and Carmel Whelehan and Jonathan Saint.

Tickets are available through the school. Ring 045-868660 for more details.
