Prices reduced at Rathangan Drama Festival
In recognition of the tough times people find themselves in, the Rathangan Drama Festival committee have reduced their admission prices from €12 to €10.
“We are delighted with the standard of the plays we have lined up, and this year we have a lot of new plays which our audience may have not seen before. This is our 25th year and we feel the festival offers great value for money. We have three local Kildare groups in the programmme and we have a hilarious comedy on Monday night March 18. “Out of Order” has won a number of festivals already and is definitely one to look out for. On St Patrick’s night, we have “The Loves of Cass McGuire” by Brian Friel - a great Irish play. People can have a great night out at a top quality play for just €10 and then pop up to the pub for a drink afterwards - all on your doorstep,” said committee spokesperson Mairead Broderick.
Hosted by Sean Glennon, the festival begins on Friday March 15 in the community centre with the Kildare Theatre Company’s interpretation of “Trinity” by Alan Clarke. On Sunday 17 March, Amphitheatre Co Clare stage ‘The Loves of Cass McGuire by Brian Friel. The Bridge Drama Group from Wexford take on “Out of Order” by Ray Cooney on Monday 18, followed by The Rasper Players, Gorey with “Carthaginians” by Frank McGuinness on Tuesday 19. The Bradan Players Leixlip, return on Wednesday 20 with “In how I learned to Drive” by Paula Vogel.
Thursday 21 sees Thurles Drama Group present “All my Sons” by Arther Miller while last year’s winners, Prosperous Drama Society perform the comedy “The Goat” or “Who is Sylvia” by Edward Albee on the final night, Friday 22.
This year’s adjudicator is Ann Meketarian and the curtain will be raised at 8.15pm nightly. Admission including tea at the interval is €10, concessions and OAP is €5. A season ticket costs €50 (Concession and OAP Season ticket €30). For enquiries and bookings phone 045 524396.
