A new CD called ‘Dare to Dream’ by the students of the Leah Moran’s Stage School has been dedicated to the memory of a past pupil who sadly lost his battle with cancer last year.

Ten-year-old Cillian O’Dwyer who was described as ‘the life and soul of Leah Moran’s Stage School’ passed away on January, 19 2011.

“His friends at the school were devastated by his loss,” said Leah Moran. “Cillian loved music and performing so much that his fellow students decided to honour his memory by creating a CD of tracks inspired by him.”

Cillian’s parents, Orla and Shane from Suncroft requested that the proceeds of the CD be donated to Make A Wish Ireland, an organisation that made such a difference to Cillian in the latter part of his life.

“He was with the school for about two years,” she added. “He was very popular and he lived for the stage. He was the life and soul of my school.”

Six of the original songs were penned, produced and performed by students aged 7 to 18 from the school, and inspired by and dedicated to the memory of Cillian. Another song, ‘The Fly’ on the album was written by their singing teacher, Shane Creevy who is formerly of the boy band D-side and currently a backing singer with Jedward in Baku for the Eurovision song contest. The CD will be unveiled at a number of shows by the students Leah Moran’s Stage School across Kildare starting on Friday night at the CYMS, Kildare Town, Royston in Newbridge on Saturday and Sunday – 26 and 27 May and The Moat Theatre, Naas on Wednesday, 30 May at 8pm.
