An old “heritage town” scheme shut down about six years ago, he was told and the new Heritage Island scheme has replaced it. To qualify, he was told, it appeared Leixlip would have to have accomodation of a certain standard, be relatively litter free with some cultural or built heritage and have a heritage trail through the town which can be promoted. A heritage committee would pay a fee for marketing.
