A special 40th anniversary concert is in the pipeline for Naas’ Nás na Ri Singers.
Former Eurovision winners Secret Garden will be the special guests at the gala performance, which will take place at the Killashee House Hotel on Sunday, May 6.
The concert is planned to celebrate the singers’ 40 years of music and choral distinction, and it promises to be a beautiful evening of music and notstalgia.
Duo Secret Garden won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995, and the Norwegian act has a local link with the Naas choir.
Secret Garden violinist Fionnuala Sherry is the daughter of the late Ben Sherry, who was member of the Nas na Ri singers.
The compere for the night will be actor Tom Hickey, whose sister Ann Marie Rigney is a Singers member. Tom also did the group’s first concert in 1972.
Secret Garden’s composer and pianist Rolf Lovland wrote the music for the hit song ‘You Raise Me Up’, and his collaboration with the choir on this famous number promises to be one of the hits of the night.
Tickets cost €20 and are on sale now at Burke’s Pharmacy, North Main Street, Naas or by booking online www.eventelephant.com/nasnarisingers.
