Fifth String is a dynamic mix of five Classical instruments-
harp, flute, violin, guitar & the voice and combines such diverse musical genres as rock, pop, contemporary ballads, classical and traditional music to deliver acoustic versions of favourite classics, with a twist.

Musical events to date have inc
luded the Rathangan Lunasa Festival along with support gigs for acts as Kila, The Dublin Gospel Choir and Eimear Quinn as well as hosting a very successful sellout gig at Dunshane House.

For Valentine's weekend the group will perform a programme of songs for Valentines; heartfelt and sometimes irreverent the programme will include songs from classical to rock and quite a few shades in between.
The talented group includes harpest Mary Keenan whose musical roots are in traditional Irish music.

Over the years she has studied harp privately and has broadened her repertoire to include both classical and contemporary music. Jeanette Behan has also studied flute privately and has played flute for several musical societies/orchestras and at many corporate functions.

Paul Flood is a guitarist, singer and occasional songwriter. He first performed publicly in Mick McCarthy's Embankment, supporting artists like Des Keogh & Rosaleen Linehan, Paddy Reilly and the Fureys. His hobby of song-writing has seen him host a singer-songwriter night in a special Kildare venue called the Old Mill whilst his songs have also garnered awards in the prestigious Clonmel National Song Contest .

Angela O' Toole is a mezzo soprano who has studied music both privately and in the college of music Dublin. Her musical journey began as a soloist in school productions and includes three years as a Bunratty singer/entertainer.

Lisa Dowling studied violin in the Cork School of Music and followed with a Masters in St Patricks College, Drumcondra. She has played and travelled extensively with the National Youth Orchestra and the Co Kildare Orchestra. Dowling is presently teaching violin in the Herbert Lodge Arts Centre.

The group began as an accidental collaboration to provide a programme of music for a summer festival and has since evolved into a distinctive sound which has been enthusiastically been received by crowds all over the country.
