The Kildare Ploughing Team last week took part in the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tullamore, Co Offaly and gave a great exhibition at Ireland’s largest outdoor festival.
On Tuesday, Bobby Owen came second in the Vintage 2 Furrow Trailer Class and Kieran Dunne came 4th in the 3 Furrow Conventional Class Junior Grade.
Ciaran Bracken took part in the All Ireland Under 21 Conventional Class Junior Grade for the first time and came sixth. David Owen took part in the Under 28 conventional Senior Grade.
On Wednesday, Darragh Barron ploughed in the Macra 2 Furrow Conventional Class, Pat Commane in the Senior Horse Class and Peter O’Connell in the Vintage 2 furrow mounted class.
On Thursday, the county’s only lady competitor, Maria Dunne, who competed in her first All Ireland, came second in the Novice 2 Furrow Conventional Class Junior Grade which is a new class in the championships.
Pat Carey ploughed in the Junior 2 Furrow Conventional Class.
The Kildare Ploughing Association wish to congratulate all of its prize winners and wish everyone the best of luck in the qualifying matches for the 2017 championships.
These kick off with the North West Kildare Match on October 16.
