Celebrity hairdresser Mark Hill was in the neighbourhood recently to give his top tips on achieving the hottest looks for Christmas – without leaving hair hung-over and lifeless.
Old Hollywood Glamour, Long up bobs and Fringed pony tails are the top celebrity looks for Christmas with everyone from Scarlett Johansson to Nelly Furtado gracing the red carpet with these fashionable styles.
Hollywood Glamour"Old style Hollywood glamour is a big favourite among celebrities like Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and Scarlet Johansson; it's a classic style best worn with a modern twist," says Mark.
Get the look:
• Soften and create definition by washing with Mark Hill Salon Sexy Curl Shampoo and Conditioner.
• Towel dry, then run a drop of Mark Hill De Frizz Shine Serum and start to blow dry the hair in sections.
• When hair is 80% dry, roller the hair by smoothing a section around the roller and gradually roll down the length of the hair and secure in place with a pin or grip.
• Blast with the dryer and leave to set before releasing from the rollers.
• Gently comb through and tease the waves into place with the fingers and Mark Hill De Frizz Texturizing Polish.
Long 'up' bobsDesperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has been spotted sporting the latest trend for long hair lovers, the long 'up' bob, which creates the illusion of a bob from the front without having to succumb to the scissors.
Get the look:
• Relax and soften the hair by washing with Mark Hill Salon Sexy Straight Shampoo and Salon Straight Conditioner
• Section and blow dry using Mark Hill Straightening Balm and Mark Hill Long Hair Smoothing Paddle Brush
• When hair is dry, section from underneath and spray with Mark Hill Heat Protection Spray before running a Mark Hill Straightening Aid though the lengths of the hair. Gently smooth the hair using thermo straighteners with a French polishing technique to make sure the hair doesn't become too flat.
• Part the hair in the middle from the forehead to the crown and pull the back the section into a low pony tail.
• Run the straightening aid through the front sections again and massage a drop of Mark Hill De Frizz Shine Serum through the hair for a sleek and glossy finish.
Fringed ponytails and updosStrong and heavy fringes are a big hair trend for the party season, especially with slick ponytails. Stars like Lilly Allen and Nelly Furtado love this style for its fashionable appeal.
Get the look:
• After washing, blow dry using a Mark Hill Ceramic Styling Booster Brush and Mark Hill Root Volumising Mist. The ceramic rods on the barrel act like a heated roller, blow drying in plenty of volume and body. The fringe itself should lie just below the eyebrow and although smooth should also have curve to it.
• Pull the hair back separating from the fringe and secure in place at the back of the crown wrapping a long strand of hair from underneath around instead of a band.
• Cross two Kirby grips underneath to secure in place. Finish with a spritz of Mark Hill Ultimate Gloss Mist to leave hair looking super glossy.
Mark is dedicated to creating styles that can be enjoyed again and again by the general public without causing damage:
"Creating beautiful and sexy hair for women everywhere is what drives me and my company forward every day. At Christmas hair can be stretched to breaking point as excessive styling can strip the hair of its natural oils and deplete the moisture.
"It is essential to replenish and re-hydrate your hair and also to keep coloured hair looking vibrant and rich throughout the party season."
To protect your hair from Christmas wear and tear invest in Mark's Intensive Conditioning Mask and Colour Protection Mask, rehydrate hair with Mark Hill Leave in Moisturising Mist and avoid split ends using Mark Hill Split End Capsules, which are designed to repair and strengthen damaged areas whilst protecting against chemical or physical damage like brushing.
