There was a large attendance of all sections of the community at the launch of a promotional DVD entitled ‘Newbridge – The Heart of Kildare’ on Wednesday evening of last week.

Newbridge Silverware was the venue for the first showing of the film which was produced by the Newbridge/Bad Lippspringe Twinning group.

The film showcases the town of Newbridge and environs and features some wonderful footage of the many amenities and attractions the town has to offer to visitors and potential businesses.

Senator Mary Ann O’Brien who was the keynote speaker at the launch described the DVD as “one of the most exciting community projects I have come across”.

“I am absolutely gobsmacked at the quality and beauty of this film, and offer my heartiest congratulations to all concerned on a truly brilliant achievement,” she said.

Chairperson, Claire Doyle paid tribute to Willie Crowley and Peter O’Neill, the principal driving forces of the DVD and she also congratulated Newbridge Town Council whom she said were fully behind the project from the outset and who quickly realised the benefits that could accrue to the town from such a project.

A copy of the DVD was taken to New York by Kildare Mayor Michael ‘Spike’ Nolan during his recent St Patrick’s Day trip.

The DVD is available from the Kiosk, Main Street at a cost of €5.
