Monsignor Brendan Byrne, administrator for the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin, has announced a number of new clerical appointments, which will be effective from 1 September.

Rev John Brickley, currently curate in Naas, Sallins and Two Mile House is to be made parish priest.

A new curate will be appointed to Naas, Rev PJ Madden, who is currently in Graiguecullen and Arles, Laois. Rev Edward Kavanagh will move from Mountmellick to be curate in Allen, replacing his namesake Fr. Brian Kavanagh, while Newbridge’s Rev Pat Hughes will move to Emo and Portarlington,

Several other appointments have been made to other parts of the diocese, which has a Catholic population of 219,817 in 56 parishes with 117 churches.
