Local Notes - KILMEADE
LITTER PROBLEMS ON THE INCREASE:
It now appears that people are throwing full black plastic of refuse along the roadsides, defacing the beautiful Kilmeade countryside.
Councillor Martin Miley has expressed his concern for this escalating problem and hopes to organise another litter pick as soon as the weather picks up.
Meanwhile the appeal goes out to the perpetrators to think twice before you dump.
“One of the best things that every happened….” has been the response to the community text alert system which is working so efficiently. Since it’s inception late last year, six arrests have been made, as well as a number of “scare offs” when would be thieves have sped away.
There are still many hours of darkness so your ongoing vigilance is encouraged.
Many members of the Kilmeade community gathered at the refurbished home of Jonathan Mulhall and his family,Ballindrum, on Tuesday, 22 February, for the Thanksgiving Mass, requested by them as a “thank you” to all those who rallied around them since Jonathan’s accident on 15 January, 2012.
Parish Priest Fr. Frank McEvoy celebrated the Mass with the added treat of singing by Joseph Gorman.
Jonathan himself thanked his community and especially Vincent Gorman, Chairman of the Jonathan Mulhall Trust Fund, for all the fundraising events throughout the year, which have contributed to the state of the art wheelchair accessible home where Jonathan now resides.
Afterwards everyone enjoyed some beautiful refreshments, courtesy of Jonathan and his family.
