Cake sale for hospital
The Friends of Naas Hospital are holding a cake sale at the Hospital on May 16th from 9.30am to noon. Donations of home baking welcome, or come along and buy some of the wonderful goodies on offer to support Friends Of Naas Hospital.
Darkness into light
In aid of Pieta House, a centre for the prevention of self-harm or suicide, the ‘Darkness into Light’ 5k event takes place in 14 venues around Ireland, including in Naas. Eirgrid project meeting
The grid link project, linking Leinster and Munster, consists of a new high voltage power line. It is described as a vital development for the region and aims to deliver a wide range of benefits. All interested stakeholders are invited to engage with the Grid Link project at a meeting being held on Thursday May 10 from 1pm to 8pm in Killashee House Hotel.
New creative writing group
Naas Library is setting up a new creative writing group that will meet for a series of workshops once a month on Monday mornings over the Summer months.
The first workshop is taking place on Monday 14th May at 10am.
Published authors Tina Reilly, John MacKenna, Colm Liddy & Mae Leonard are among the facilitators for this new creative writing group in Naas Library. There is only a limited number of spaces available in the group, so please contact Naas Library to reserve a place.
St. David’s Bridge Club
The results of the competition held on April 18 was, first Julian Chapman and Eunice Dunne. Best gross Patsy Brennan and Catherine Murphy. Second Peggy Hassett and Gemma O’Loughlin.
In the competition on April 25, Stella Alley and Stephanie Cullinan took first with best gross going to Carmel Culligan amd Nuala Switzer and in second place were Sheila Ashe and Mary Dunne.

hildren and Teens With Aspergers To Make Friends” for parents, teachers and individuals who work with young people with aspergers is taking place in Naas Library on Tuesday May 22 at 7pm. Issues that will be covered include: exploring the obstacles that can be faced by these children/teens when making friends and methods for enabling friendship development. Wood Of Life Exhibition
Naas Library is holding a ‘Wood of Life” exhibition throughout the month of May. This is a hands-on interactive exhibition with youth-orientated information and resources relating to natural resources and the environment. All are welcome to view this free exhibition during library opening hours.
Naas Care of the Aged Centre
The Care of the Aged Centre, Newbridge Road, Naas, is very active in caring for the elderly and organises outings, parties and trips. They also run whist, bowls and bingo on different nights of the week.
Different organisations organise parties for our elderly as well.

Everyone over 55 years is welcome every Friday at 8pm to enjoy a game of indoor bowls. Come along early, from 7.30pm, to practice. All Welcome.
Naas Music Festival takes place at the Naas Canal Harbour starting at 1pm on May 12. The event kicks off at 1pm with Naas Youth Orchestra, followed by Lulea Swedish Youth Orchestra at 1.15pm, Elliot Canavan Doyle from The Voice performing at 1.30pm, Gavin Kenny also from The Voice at 2.15pm, on stage at 3pm is Keith Cullen followed by The Bigdogg Band at 5 pm. The Crossfire play at 6 pm, Amazing Apples at 7pm and the headline act, Shadowplay, are on stage at 8pm. There will also be special guests on the day so don’t miss out! Admission is free, and you can check for updates on Facebook.
A two day meeting will take place on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 May at Punchestown Racecourse and over the two days, races that were lost due to bad weather at the recent Punchestown Festival will take place. The first race on Tuesday 8 May will take place at 4.50pm. Admission is just E10 or E7 for students and senior racegoers. All children under
14 go racing for free. On the second day, Wednesday (evening) May 9, the first race is off at 5.10pm.
The Panoramic Restaurant Package is available on both days and offers excellent value just E49 per person. This package includes admission, race card and a delicious four course supper (including tea and coffee).
Naas Utd FC lotto
The numbers drawn in the Naas United FC lotto draw on April 29 were 4, 6, 14 and 24. There was no winner of the E2,500 jackpot. Four tickets won E25 - Dan O’Connell; Mary Champ; John Timkins, and June Curtis and Madelaine Dowson). The jackpot next week is E2,600.
Once again a massive thank you to all those who bought tickets. Draw takes place every Sunday night at the Town House Hotel after 10pm.
The death occurred on Saturday, April 28, of Kathleen Mary (Kitty) McCall, (nee Stroud) of Craddockstown Nursing Home, Naas. Removal was on Tuesday from the Nursing Home to Newlands Cross Crematorium for Service followed by Cremation.
The death occurred on Monday, April 30, of John Lorigan of Broadfield View, Naas, aged eighty, in Tallaght Hospital. Sadly missed by his loving wife Mary and darling daughter Majella, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Funeral Mass was on Thursday morning in the Church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballycane, followed by cremation in Newland’s Cross Crematorium.
May they rest in peace.
