Kildare - Kerry Charity Honda Cycle
A Charity Cycle from Kildare to Kerry (166 Miles) will take place on Friday, 1st June in aid of Carbury Carers Association and Derrinturn National School.
The Honda 50/70/90 bikes will depart from Derrinturn at 10am and will (hopefully) arrive in Killarney later that evening.
Registration is €25 and sponsorship cards are available from Carol in the School Office.

5 Mile Road Race at Derrinturn
The annual 5 mile race takes place this year on 10th June, organized by Carbury Drama Group.
The entry fee is €10, which can be paid on the day or raised by taking a sponsorship card which can be got from any member.
The race starts in Derrinturn outside the Community Centre, through Ballyhegan, the Island road, and back to Derrinturn by Rathmore, finishing outside the Church.
There will be a water station at Ticknevin Bridge and as usual the Civil Defence provide great assistance in manning the road junctions. Walkers are welcome. For information call Brendan Cummins on 086-8290316 or Liz Malone on 086-3031070.
Grants received by Carbury Clubs and Organisations
The following clubs and organisations received funding from the Drehid Grants Scheme and were omitted included in the list we published previously.
Carbury GAA €20,000, Derrinturn Foroige Youth Club €2,000, Carbury Scout Group €6,000, Derrinturn Tidy Towns €4,000, Carbury Carers €1,425.
Vintage Cars, Tractors and Motorcycles
The Pattern of Carbury Field Day will take place on Sunday, 3rd June in Derrinturn starting at 2pm.
This year the organisers of the Field Day have invited the Shamrock Vintage Car and Tractor Club to participate in the parade. This will be the first time for the club to take part and no doubt they will attract many people both young and old.
Some vintage and modern motorcycles will also be taking part in the parade. So all-in-all the Annual Field Day promises to be bigger and better than ever.
The parade will begin from the Parish Hall beginning at 1.30pm and will be lead by the Newbridge Town Band.
Local clubs, groups and organisations are encouraged to participate.
Lots of entertainment is lined-up for the day including, athletics for children, bouncing castles, wheel of fortune, book stall, bric-a-brac, scouts bbq, toy stall, face painting, dog show, baby show, guess the name of the doll, guess the weight of the lamb, mouse bingo and there will also be Irish Dancing and live music.
Open Air Mass
The Annual Open Air Mass celebrated at Holy Trinity Well will take place at 11am. The main gate to Newbury Hall will remain open until 6pm to allow people to visit the Holy Well during the day.
Historical Society to host Lecture
Edenderry Historical Society will hold their next meeting in the Parish Centre, Edenderry this Friday evening, 25th May at 7.00pm and this will be followed by a Lecture by Dr. Terence Dooley on “The Murders at Wildgoose Lodge - cime and punishment in pre-famine Ireland.” at 8.00 p.m.
Ashgrove Mini Youth Club
The Mini Youth Club founded in Ashgrove in March 2011 is aimed at children aged between 4-12 years of age. The children are involved in various activities including arts, crafts, games and flower planting to name a few. They also go on an annual trip to the Zoo.
The Mini Youth Club are holding a fundraising Cake Sale on this Saturday, 26th and Sunday, 27th May outside Derrinturn Church. You support will be greatly appreciated.
Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

First Communion at Derrinturn
The pupils from Derrinturn Schools have been very busy recently in preparation for their First Holy Communion.
The boys and girls will receive the Sacrament at Derrinturn Church

Bookings for Eucharistic Congress
Bookings have been extended until 4th June for the Eucharistic Congress. You can now purchase a Special Events Ticket for €40. This includes admission to the Opening Ceremony in RDS on 10th June and Statio Orbis (Closing Mass) in Croke Park on 17th June.
You may still purchase tickets for the Tuesday for our Diocesan Day in the Congress. These one day tickets are €35 or Senior Citizen/Students €30.

The Altar Cloth, which was made by all the schools in our Diocese added to the recently held ceremonies at both Churches.
Our Mass at 11.15pm on Monday night, which concIuded the Adoration, was very special and was attended by a large gathering.
Carbury GAA Lotto
The Carbury GAA Lotto Draw took place recently and the the following numbers were drawn 14, 18, 21, 24, the bonus number was 20. There was one match three 3 winner who receiving €200. Next week’s prizes are; match 4 numbers plus the bonus number to win or share €13,150; match first 4 numbers drawn to win or share €6,800.
Collection of Farm Plastic
The Farm Relief Service are holding two Plastic Collection Days on Wednesday, 30th May in Adam Goodwin’s Yard in Athy and on Thursday, 31st May in Kilcullen Mart Kilcullen from 9am - 4pm. They will accept silage wrap, pit covers, small fertiliser bags/feed bags, large fertiliser bags/feed bags, rigid plastic drums (spray drums must be triple rinsed and also in a liner bag).
