Local notes - MAYNOOTH
Scór is the cultural side of the GAA. Its purpose is to promote Irish culture within clubs, and to give the members who may not necessarily wish to take part in sporting activities the opportunity to show their talents elsewhere. Scór is divided into two categories - Scór Na nÓg for children under 17 years of age and Scór Sinsear for anyone over 17 years of age.
There are eight competitions, Céili Dancing, Solo-Singing, Instrumental Music, Novelty Act, Question Time, Recitation or Story Telling, Ballad Group and Set-dancing.
The Maynooth Quiz Team, Maynooth Ceili Dance Team, and Solo Singer Joseph O Gorman from St. Lawrence’s GAA Club recently became Scor na nÓg Leinster Champions. They now travel to the Ebrington Pavilion Derry on April 27 to represent their clubs, Kildare and Leinster in a bid for an All-Ireland Title.
If you would like any further information about Scór, enquire at Maynooth GAA Club or call Rita Doyle at 086 2862475 or email
