The third Kildare Readers Festival, organised by Kildare County Council Library and Arts Services takes place in Newbridge from 12 -14 October.

To coincide with the festival, artists at all stages of their development, are invited to participate in a KRF:2 Artist Notebook project, whereby artists are invited to fill a notebook in a creative way. Each notebook is then donated to Kildare County Council Arts Service to become part of a permanent touring collection. In 2011, 51 artists kindly donated their notebook for the inaugural KRF:1 project.

According to Arts Officer for Kildare County Council, Lucina Russell, ‘there was an overwhelming response to KRF:1 from the participating artists and the public who spent hours delving into these very personal notebooks’. “There was a real sense of excitement and wonder at the range of ideas and methods captured within the covers of these discreet Moleskine notebooks,” she said.

Having already toured to Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, it is envisaged the KRF:2 Artist Notebook Project will become a national event, growing in volume over time.

The KRF:2 Artist Notebook Project will be exhibited in Riverbank Arts Centre from 12 to 27 October 2012

A5 Black Moleskine notebooks will be provided by Kildare County Council Arts Service at a charge of €5.00. Register your intention to participate and order your notebook from the Arts Service and fill your notebook with writings, drawings, paintings, photographs, notes, collage. Applications are welcome from artists of all creative disciplines, at all levels – student, amateur, emerging and professional.
