A number of brave lads and lassies walked barefoot from the Curragh to the Saint Patrician’s Boys school in Newbridge on Friday, May 25 to raise money for Cara Projects.

Sean Phelan, Rebecca Coogan, Amy Reid and Amy Dunne all went barefoot in the walk for Cara Projects to replicate the journey that just some of the poorest children of Africa have to endure just to receive an education. The participants walked five Kms from the Curragh church to the Patrician Secondary School in Newbridge were Sean attends school. The brief journey pales in comparison to what some African children have to walk. The distance is only half the battle, as the participants are not used to bare feet, especially on roads, the walk itself will be difficult. Again, this replicates a minor problem in comparison to the dangers the children in Kenya have to endure.
