AUDIO: Kildare Rose Meadhbh O'Sullivan gets set for first qualifying selection in Tralee tonight

Kildare Rose Meadhbh O'Sullivan is getting set to take part in the first of two qualifying Rose of Tralee selection nights, which is taking place tonight.

RTE presenter Dáithí Ó Sé will meet 32 of the 65 Roses on stage in front of a packed Festival Dome in Tralee.

Each Rose will find out next Sunday if she has been chosen to appear on the televised show on Monday 22  or Tuesday 23 August. Just half of the Irish and international Roses will appear in the traditional live show from the Dome.

The format was changed this year, in that all 65 Roses have taken part in the nationwide ten-day tour, which finishes in Kerry this week. In previous years, Roses had to get through a qualifying round which was held in Portlaoise in June.

Newbridge woman Meadhbh (23) is a sports science graduate and currently working on Motor Neurone Disease research. She says that Dáithí will bring out the best in the Roses when he interviews them on stage.
